Staff scenarios:

1) You are told by a player in admin chat that another player is randomly killing people: Firstly, I would teleport the reporter to an OOC area and get his side of the story along with any evidence supporting his story. At this point, I would also check the logs for any damage dealt. I would then teleport the reported player and get him to explain his side of the story and why he did it. If his reason was not valid then I would hand out the appropriate punishment.

2) You are asked by a player about how to join a faction: I would direct the player to the appropriate office or building where they can get or enquire about a job.

3) You catch somebody not performing RP and messing around: I would pull the player out of the situation to explain that they will need to RP seriously and stop messing about, if they do not listen then I would hand out a punishment for NITRP.

4) Somebody acquires a rank, but is not willing to RP with it properly: If someone acquired a rank and was not willing to RP I would inform their relevant CO or Faction Leader. I would also make sure to tell them that the information is OOC to avoid any metagaming.

5) A player is prop spamming: I would firstly kick the player to avoid further spamming and then give them a Permanent Ban.

Rule knowledge:

1) Explain the difference between Tier I rule-breaking and punishments and Tier II rule-breaking and punishments:

A Tier I rule-break is something that is unintentional, misunderstood or if it's a new player, this will usually come with a lesser punishment than a Tier II punishment.

A Tier II rule-break is when a player breaks a rule intentionally, has already been punished in the past for it or is a veteran player. A Tier II punishment is more severe than a Tier I and will usually include a ban.

2) Explain the difference between IC and OOC. Also define Meta Gaming:
IC, or In Character, is when something happens within RP, this could be something like a business being run or casual conversations in the street.

OOC, or Out of Character, is something that happens in the OOC chat, in OOC areas, or non-IC chats in Discord.

Meta Gaming is when you use information you have gained OOCly. An example of this could be using a group chat or DMs to request something IC.

3) Explain the difference between Serious RP and Semi-Serious RP:
Serious RP is when the player must stay in character at ALL times.

Semi-Serious RP is when the player needs to act in RP but can break RP at some points.

4) Define PassiveRP and explain its role and importance in a serious RP gamemode: Passive RP is very important in a Serious RP gamemode because it makes the player immersed as if they are their character. A Passive RP environment solely consists of Roleplay and does not include combat or any violence.

5) Define the term of Combat Baiting: Combat baiting is when someone tries to initiate combat just for fun or without a proper RP reason. An example of this is openly displaying a weapon in front of CP for no reason other than to start combat.

6) Define Power Gaming: Power Gaming is forcing a certain outcome on a situation that would normally be impossible in RP, for example "/me strangles the man to death". This wouldn't be physically possible in RP and it also gives no way for the person being strangled to get out of the situation.

7) State the role of staff on the server: The role of staff on the server is to ensure all players are having a fun, enjoyable time with minimal disturbance to their RP. The staff is also there to enforce server rules and punish those who seek to break or disturb the RP. The staff is also there to advise and teach new players about the rules and server information such as factions and jobs oppertunites.

Lore Questions:

1) Give some context about the HL universe (75 words+): The Half-Life universe starts when Dr. Gordon Freeman, who works with the Black Mesa Research Corporation. Black Mesa was developing portal technology. Freeman was testing an Anti-Mass spectrometer when they ran it at an unsafe level. Freeman is tasked with inserting a Xen Crystal into the spectrometer. This damaged the machine causing The Resonance Cascade and opening a rift between Xen and the Earth. This allows unknown aliens to travel through the rift onto Earth. As Freeman and several scientists battle out of the Black Mesa Facility they send out a distress call calling for assistance. The Hazardous Environment Combat unit is deployed with the task of eliminating any Alien threat, but also the workers of the Facility.  After failing to contain the situation, the HECU decides to nuke the facility to get rid of all evidence. After the incident, Gordon Freeman is hired by the Gman and put in stasis sleep.

Not that long after rifts spread across the Earth, the combine arrives in huge numbers. This made all the countries unite together and try fighting them off, however, the combine was too strong and the war lasted 7 hours. Once the Combine took over, the former administrator of Black Mesa, Wallace Breen, negotiate peace and allows the Earth to be subjected to eternal enslavement. Breen then becomes the leader of Earth under the combine advisors. This eternal enslavement causes former Black Mesa scientists and the vortigaunts to make a resistance aimed at destroying the combine.

20 years after the Black Mesa incident, Gordon Freeman is awoken by the Gman. Freeman is en route to City 17. Gordon is given direction to Issac Kleiner's lab but on his way there he is intercepted and attacked by the combine. Gordon is knocked down but is saved by Alyx Vance, the daughter of a former scientist at the Black Mesa Facility. Alyx takes him to the lab where they find Kleiner's own teleportation machine. When Gordon tries to teleport to Black Mesa East. The teleportation fails and ends up with Wallace Breen alerting the combine of Gordon Freeman's presence. Gordon fights his way to Black Mesa east where he is reunited with Alyx and Eli. After fighting through Nova Prospekt with Alyx, they teleport back to Kleiner's lab where they begin their uprising. They fight to the Citadel and confront Wallace Breen. After a battle at the reactor in the Citadel. The reactor explodes and kills Breen. The two are then places in stasis but the vortigaunts save and release them, separating Gordon from the Gman.

After searching the Citadel for information, they escape on a train heading away from City 17. Unfortunately, the explosion caused by the Citadel's reactor causes their train to overturn. Gordon and Alyx then head to a resistance base at White Forest. On their way, they observe an army of combine heading towards White Forest. When they arrive at White Forest they are greeted by Eli and other former Black Mesa scientists. At White Forest, they plan to launch a rocket that will hopefully close the combine's portal to earth. After a short battle, the rocket launches and closes the portal, destroying any hopes for combine reinforcements.

2) Give some context about setting of C24 ( 50 words+) : City 24 is one of many cities that was subjugated by the Combine in the 7-hour war. City 24 is in Geneva, Switzerland, and is ruled under a heavily authoritarian and totalitarian regime. The rule of the combine in City 24 was similar to the Nazi regime. The combine stripped civilians of their rights, made it forbidden for them to reproduce, and forced them into prison-like cities, creating a hell-like environment.

3) What is the CWU?: The CWU, or the Civil Worker's Union is a labor organisation that manufactures, and sells good to citizens. The CWU also does jobs like engineering, medical services and manual labor.

4) What is the Universal Union?:  The Universal Union is the interdimensional empire that is lead by the combine advisors. They also hold full authority over the Earth Administrator.

5) What is the civil protection?: The Civil Protection is the official law enforcement of the combine. They are also referred to as Metro Cops.

6) What is the overwatch transhuman arm?: The Overwatch Transhuman Arm (OTA) is the main military unit of the combine, they usually operate outside the city and are rarely seen inside the city.

Explain in length and detail as to why you deserve staff more than other applicants. Explain what you will bring to the staff team and your strongest assets as a person/potential staff member (200+ words):  Although I lack experience as a staff member, I would be a great asset to the staff team due to my activity and dedication to my assigned tasks. Over the year that I have been a part of this community I have enjoyed every moment of it and want to make sure other people have the same experience as me. Without staff ensuring the server runs smoothly, I don't think I would be in this community. If I  were made staff my main focus would be to ensure everyone can roleplay and have an enjoyable time on the server and hopefully explore other parts of the community. Another reason why I should be staff is my growing knowledge of the Half-Life Universe. I have played through most of the Half-Life games and I am very familiar with the story and general idea of all the games. I think that with my knowledge of the HL Universe I can ensure there's quality RP  and be an asset to the staff team and community. My final reason why I should be staff is my activity on WG servers. Almost every day I am on the server from the Mid-Afternoon until 2 to 4 AM. If I were staff this would allow me to conduct my duties and create an RP environment at slow or quieter times.

This answer is pretty much correct, but you should also consider teleporting to the accused player before checking the logs as just from that you can usually deduct if the accused player did or didn't commit RDM, after that you can check the logs for damage if you didn't caught him commiting RDM, when you teleported to him.

This answer lacks details in my opinion. You should ask the player what kinda of roleplay they are looking for, before telling them about the faction you think the player would like the most, based on their answer and only then you would direct the player to the building where they can apply for such role. Also if the player isn't sure about what faction to join you can just explain all of the factions in basic terms and let the player decide, before again directing them to the right building.

You would also punish the player for NITRP as no matter who or what roles you are this is a serious roleplay server, so you must be willing to RP all the time except in very rare situations like sits.

Your play time (being a new player or veteran) has nothing to do with tiers. It doesn't matter if you are a new player or a veteran both can commit Tier I and Tier II rule breking. The only diference would be that the veteran would have a harsher punishments for Tier I rule breaking.

PassiveRP excludes only combat. Violence could also be a part of PassiveRP as Civil Protection units interogating someone with torture methods would still classify as PassiveRP.

You started off good, but about here "Nazi regime. The combine" you stopped talking about City 24 and just talked about the Combine regime in general, not about City 24 regime, because City 24 is also known as "The Royal City" and the living condicitions there are better, than in the other cities.

Overall a decent application, but you still should do a bit more research and work out the flaws.

Nevertheless I wish you good luck.
