What is the Church of the Broken God?: The church of the broken god is basically a group that worships mechanization and that they believe that flesh and life to be broken and evil.

What are the 3 main factions of the church, how are they different from each other? Coqwork Orthodox Church is the church that they adhere to the late  industrial revolution. Broken Church the broken church is basically the original you could say who continued to worship the broken god and to try to continue to reconstruct him. Church of maxwellism basically the Church of maxwellism is the modernized group who favors new ways of communicating and to worship with implants and other robotic parts and they still see the broken god as basically broken but to repair they see it as embracing themselves with their unique traits and to share their knowledge and capacity and they  see it as the eternal network WAN.

What is the CoTBG? : The CoTBG is a group/GOI that focuses on the belief that Mekhane is their saviour and anybody who disrespects his being is classified as a heretic. They believe that flesh and blood is evil/is bad and therefore they are into mechanisation. 

 

What are the 3 main factions of the church? How are they different from each-other? :

The Church of The Broken God is the one that started it all and continue to try find mechanical parts which they pro-claim are the components of God. They still continue trying to re-build their God.

The Church of Maxwellism has no actual location. They are into modernisation and have have things like mechanical limbs in mind but they are more into upgrading their network capabilities and storage for their data for means. They believe that the God is stored in data and combine their minds through a network.

The Cogwork Orthadoxy is used to and is stuck to old technological means from the late Industrial revolution. They have patriarchs and usually emit/do tapping/ticking noises which made them be called "The Tickers".

What is the Church of The Broken God:

This is a cult of people that all believe in 1 thing. Mekhane, Mekhane is the God of metal and the belief that mekhane gave the people their minds. The CoTBG Believe in mekhane and worship the God and opposes Sarkics. Sarkics are the people that worship Yaldabaoth, the flesh and instinct god. These too collide as one believes in the evolution of metal and the other the evolution of man kind and nature. The Church of Maxwellism believes that the conscious of their god was in data, on internet and through electronics. As they gave up with the ideology that god was in parts.

They do sacrifices to Yaldabaoth and Spiritual practices. This group of people are also Cannibals. The general public has no idea what the Sarkics are as they are very secretive and do their practices in secret. In this cult disease is often viewed with reverence and often times shrines in the Sarkics places of Worship are filled with Tumors or Lymph nodes or Disease Growths. 

 

Describe the War of Flesh and how it ended?:

The war of flesh was the war between the Sarkics and Mekhanites. They were using Flesh monsters and giant engineered SCP's for Example in the war the Sarkics used 610 and the Mekhanites used 2406, a Large machine made of rusty cogs. The war of Flesh was that Yaldabaoth saw the Mekahnites were leaving their original primal human instincts behind to go to the Evolution of metal. Yaldabaoth did not agree with this whereas Mekhane did, this started the flesh war. Yaldabaoth wanted to restart the human race so that they stopped trying to praise mekhane and leave their human instincts behind. Mekhane did not like this Idea and attempted to stop Yaldabaoth. Mekhane new if a war between 2 Gods broke out it would have great consequence's so this ended in Mekhane sacrificing himself and his body shattering and using it as a cage to contain Yaldabaoth.

So, you’ve got two gods, Yaldabaoth, and Mekhane, Yaldabaoth, a flesh-monster god, represents a sort-of primordial-chaos, while the more robotic Mekhane represents pure logic and intelligence.

Yaldabaoth created humanity, Mekhane gave us our intelligence, Yaldabaoth didn’t like this, and Mekhane broke himself into pieces (pieces which are scattered across the universe) and imprisoned Yaldabaoth in a cage made of himself.

Thus, humanity develops, and two religions emerge. First is Sarkicism, founded by a guy called Grand Karcist Ion, Sarkic cults worship and embody the idea that Yaldabaoth represents, fleshy chaos, it’s important to note that they don’t worship Yaldabaoth, in fact they quite dislike them, and are generally not fond of gods, but they like Yaldabaoth’s underlying concepts. Sarkicism is split into two main sects, proto-Sarkicism (which focuses on sacrificing oneself for the good of others, and also reveres Ion), and neo-Sarkicism (which is all about gaining power and wealth for oneself and is obsessed with becoming gods, this sect admires Ion as an example but also seeks to overthrow him if possible)

Then you’ve got the Church of the Broken God (lead by one Robert Bumaro) which believes that the flesh is weak and that they need to rebuild Mekhane to fuck up Yaldabaoth once and for all. This is split into the the primary CotBG, which is described above, the Cogwork Orthodoxy, which is all about technological enhancement and loves late industrial revolution tech (viewing mass-production and steam power and such as means of prayer), also they hate computers, and Maxwellism which is more into computers, data, and mass communication, notably, they believe that Mekhane is made up of data and that by connecting all of humanity digitally, Mekhane can be reborn.

Sometime in the past (around the time of Ancient Greece I believe), these two religions were much more unified and had full blown civilizations, these inevitably fought a war, this became known as the First War of the Flesh, it was quite horrible, with the Mekhanites using giant robotic constructs, and the Sarkics using similar war engines made of flesh, eventually the Mekhanites won, bit the war shattered both religions, leading to their current fractured state.

Church of the Broken God : As I said previously, members of this faction believe that by gathering all the parts of Mekhane, they can rebuild them and bring about a new era of civilisation in which technology rules all.

Cogwork Orthodoxy Church : The Cogwork Orthodoxy Church is a splinter group from when the Church of the Broken God was separated many years ago. Believing that all advanced technology (Smartphones, Datachips and everything along those lines) are inferior to the steam powered technology they augment themselves with and mass produce as a form of prayer to MEKHANE.

Church of Maxwellism : The Church of Maxwellism is another splinter group like the Cogwork Orthodoxy but it is a unique one. What is Sarkicism?: Sarkicism is the polar opposite of the Churches, They believe that flesh must be worshipped and that becoming a god is the height of the religion. Founded by the Grand Karcist Ion thousands of years ago, The Churches have been fighting Sarkicism for millennia.

There are two main factions in the Sarkic Culture, Proto-Sarkites, who believe that sacrificing themselves for the good of the people is what Sarkicism is about. They are usually situated in rural villages and are hostile to outsiders and technology. Different sects of the Proto-Sarkites will scarcely communicate with each other.

Neo-Sarkites believe that the sacrifice of others for their own benefit is the meaning of Sarkicism. This faction is situated in large cities and is normally populated with rich, influential people. They are not technophobic due to the fact that most of them have access to immense resources. Neo-Sarkites are much more vile than their Proto-Sarkite counterparts, they involve in paedophilia and other horrendous acts. Proto-Sarkites view them in a negative way.

Describe the War of the Flesh and how it ended: The War of the Flesh was a war between the Mekhanites and the Sarkites. It was horrific, with the Mekhanites using massive robotic constructs and the Sarkites using similar flesh-based war machines. Mekhane, fearing the destruction of civilisation itself, reassembled themself into a cage to trap the vile Yaldabaoth inside. Pieces of Mekhane fell to earth, with Mekhane hoping that their loyal followers would one day reassemble them. The war left both religions fractured, leading to the state they are in today.

What is the Church of the Broken God?: 

The Church of the Broken God (formally known as The Mekhanites) is a religious group centered around a massive, god-like machine known as The Broken God, MEKHANE, or WAN. They're split into 3 different sections, based on the levels of technology each sect believes in. Despite being split, they each contain similar goals, and all hate the Sarkics (as we will read soon).

The sects of The Church of the Broken God implant different mechanical attachments into them to ascend above the limitations of flesh. The Church interacts with different GoIs on occasions, including The Factory, Nobody, The Black Queen, and most importantly, the Sarkics. It is generally considered the "good" side of the battle, as mechanical utopias are more appealing than flesh utopias.

What are the 3 main factions of the church, how are they different from each other?:

The Broken Church, the original sect that follows the legends and mythos of the original Followers seeking to reconstruct Mekhane. They are lead by the holy Builder Robert Bumaro who drank the blood of Mekhane turning him into a physical embodiment of machine and the perfect image of the Broken God.

 

The second sect is the Cogwork Orthodoxy that believes that Mekhane is found through mass production and industry. They often take on technology and appearances similar to those founded during the Industrial Revolution. As a result often end up as a form of steampunk type of worshipers. Each member is encouraged to undergo changes to recreate themselves in god’s image, this often leads to its members replacing parts of their bodies with brass gears and clockwork, earning them the mocking name of “tickers” by the other two sects. The Cogwork Orthodoxy is led by Patriarchs, who issue production orders, command battallions of faithful, and wright the holy writ by which all within the Cogwork Orthodoxy church adhere to.

 

The final and most modern split is The Church of Maxwellism. This unique branch is very unlike the other two. The Maxwellists call Mekhane “Wan” and seek the diffusion of information and knowledge instead of standardization and construction like the other two. Additionally, Maxwellists convert new members through the internet on chatrooms and websites. The Maxwellists are not also organized into builders or patriarchs like the Broken Church and the Cogwork Orthodoxy, instead being comprised of a vast network of constant communication through the internet that most members are consciously connected to via microchips installed into their brains. These computer like modifications, have earned Maxwellists the name of “hummers” amongst the other factions. Despite each sect's individual doctrines they all seek to repair the Broken God and make him whole once more.

Mekhane’s fragments fell to Earth in many forms of technology so that one day he may be repaired. Yaldabaoth left six archons in the city of Adytum to prepare for when she finally escapes her prison. Now, Mekhane is broken, waiting for his faithful to make him whole once more so he may lead them to glory while Yaldabaoth rages against a weakening cage where her children seep through the cracks. Her faithful prepare for her return so they may return man to the dark ages.

What is Sarkicism?:

 

The Sarkic Cults, also known as Nälkä amongst themselves, are a religious group which believe in a powerful being known as Yaldabaoth. However, unlike most religious cults, Sarkicism started out as a form of parasitic relationship between the cultists and their god- with the cultists as a parasite. Their motives originally were good and wholehearted, however, as Ion (their leader) became more corrupted by Yaldabaoth, their motives have changed.

The Sarkics (which are separated into two groups, one being technophobic and the other less so) are responsible for a number of highly dangerous anomalies, and have generally been depicted as an "apocalypse cult," with no taboos on highly disgusting things such as rape and murder. In their eyes, in order to achieve godhood, no one must be bound by morality- nothing sacred, and nothing taboo.

Describe the War of the Flesh and how it ended:

 

The most important part of CoTBG history is the First War of Flesh, named after their opposing forces - namely Sarkites. Mekhanites fought the war in the image of their god, using big machinery (Collossi, one of them is contained by SCP Foundation)  and advancing themselves with technology. Sarkites on the other hand, used various diseases , most notably the Red Death (SCP 610) and doing rituals to alter their own bodies turning them into abominations. The Followers of Mekhane overtook the Sarkic capital in Greece and slaughtered the powerful Karcists residing there. With the local Karcists killed, the Followers of Mekhane allied with the Greek city-states moved forward against the leaderless Sarkic forces, winning victory after victory. The war dragged on as the two sides slowly crumbled with each battle. Each side grew more racked by debt, famine, and disease both sides collapsed into oblivion. The Sarkics and the Followers of Mekhane receded into the backgrounds of history to lick their wounds until they would meet once again.
