  1. I Have Issued you with your HL-RP Trial Mod Forum Tag, so no need to make a rank request !

  2. I completely understand the concern regarding this, and I fully accept the fact that the parts are taken from the discord. Though I do feel like due to there only being one other source I could find (https://hl2rp.fandom.com/wiki/Cities) I felt I had to use some of the discord's to successful answer the question, I do find it somewhat disheartening that this singular question brings down the whole application but understand the view.
  3. RP Character name(s): Callum Step Steam name: Callum Steam ID: STEAM_0:1:87170897 Age when applying: 16 (17 In a month today.) What country do you currently reside in? What is your time-zone: The UK with the timezone of BST Can you speak and type English fluently: Yes. Current total game-time on the server (type utime_enable 1 in the console if you can't see your game time): N/A As the server has not been released as of this date. IC Rank(s) and OOC Donation Rank(s) on HL-RP: IC: CWU/Civilian OOC: N/A Do you own a working microphone? When you communicate do you type or speak: Yes, I have a working mic. I prefer to speak over voice comms over typing but can do either if needed within situations. When did you join the server? Have you taken any breaks since: N/A Once more due to the lack of an accessible server. How often do you use our Teamspeak 3 server and our forums: Currently not very often, but will once the server is out to keep up to date with any changes and keep in contact with the community. State all your previous OOC punishments (bans, kicks etc.) and a screenshot of your list of warns. (Go in game and type !warns.) Upload it to http://imgur.com/ or as a steam community screenshot and include the link). Your game time must be visible as well in the screenshot. (Type utime_enable 1 if you can not see it on your screen): N/A State the role of staff on the server: The role of staff on the server is to maintain order within and between the players. This is achieved primarily by punishing and correcting any rule breakers, rule breaking intentional or otherwise, another key role is to act as teachers and guides to teach new players how to RP to the manner in which we expect and importantly enjoy themselves on our server. As before mentioned the staff team act as teachers helping players with server rules and any questions they might have. If a strong staff team doesn't exist a strong server doesn't. Give some context about setting of C24 within the Half Life universe (150 words+): Situated within Geneva, Switzerland, the city differentiated itself from the rest of the Universal Union administrated cities via an almost fanatical route of propaganda manipulation. Its numerous red banners soaring through the city, creating and enforcing a sense of Unionistic nationalism the once honorable crest of Geneva now turned to another ever-watching eye keeping it's iron grip over the indoctrinated populous. From an outsiders perspective he city resembles whispers of the old world via its fake posture of prestige and comfort, its road and street buildings remain well kept and relatively clean. City 24 has multiple large buildings for the Civil Protection, Overwatch Transhuman Arm, and the Civil Workers Union. Old buildings left in ruin to become homes for the Resistance and infested with monstrosities. City 24 is ruled near identically to other Union administrated cities, civilian movement is harshly limited making it comparable to North Korea or Nazi Germany of the real world. Have you read the server rules and are you familiar with them? N/A Due to the lack of posted rules no I have not, but I believe that upon reading them I will grow familiar with them fast. Have you read the punishment list and are familiar with it? Once again no due to the lack of a visible list, but as before mentioned I believe I will grow familiar with them fast. List of all previous server staff experience: W-G: Superadmin upon both SWRP and on Vietnam RP, Admin on DarkRP List of all previous RP experience: 80% of my past 1700 hours upon G-Mod is upon RP servers and that is something I don't plan to change. Outside of G-Mod I frequent D&D sessions alongside assist in running two separate discord RP servers, though not of the same setting. SWRP: Fleet Captain, 5th Fleet CO, CE CO, Sev, Fi, Obi Wan Kenobi VRP: ATC Chief. Have you added the Manager on Steam? If not, add him: Requested. Have you added the Vice-Manager on Steam? If not, add him: Requested. Have you added the Staff Manager on Steam? If not, add him: Requested. Do you understand that you can be demoted at anytime with a sufficient reason by a Hierarchy member?: Yes I understand. Explain how you would handle these scenarios as a staff member: 1 ) You are told by a player in admin chat that another player is randomly killing people: Check BLogs to confirm, bring the offender, ask them what their side of the situation is and state what they have done wrong, ban accordingly to severity, if the ticket was false explain to that person to not waste staff time with something such as false tickets, warn accordingly such as if it was their first time or a misunderstanding. 2 ) You are asked by a player about how to join a faction: Provide them with information in a OOC setting so not to metagame, and make sure that they find and join said faction through IC means. Example: Citizen gaining knowledge of rebel locations and recruitment centres perhaps from a pair of rebels talking about a new base and overhearing it, or directing them to the discord or the forums and being given some form of guide by one of the factions own. 3 ) You catch somebody not performing RP and messing around: Due to this is a heavily RP-focused server, I would make sure that they were aware that this isn't permitted. On the other hand I believe that if they are not directly harming other peoples RP or time spent on the server I don't see a massive issue but if they are interacted with IRP and are messing about still they would be warned accordingly 4 ) Somebody acquires a rank but is not willing to RP with it properly: Provide them with the rules once more and assure them that their actions are not befitting of the role/position they currently are and that a change is needed. If they refuse to comply or decline to read the rules and change their actions I would warn them that they may lose access to that rank and perhaps faction permanently in the form of a blacklist. I would then forward their actions to whomever it may concern IE: Higher ranking staff members and/or the leaders of said faction that the rank is from. 5 ) A player is prop spamming: Goto them, freeze them and promptly remove props they have placed, reminding them that that is against the rules and proceed with a warning after removing their props, following the punishment guide assigned by hierarchy. Whether that is warns and kicks or full bans 6 ) Somebody does not agree with the outcome of an RP situation therefore he decides to break RP and act OOC: I would gather all of the information I can, from the parties involved alongside server logs, if the RP was built upon a rule break such as Metagaming and there is no real standing for the RP to occur I would then void the RP situation and deal from there. On the other hand if there is valid reason behind the RP situation, I would clarify that to the player and that if they still see an issue with either my staffing or the RP that they should appeal it upon our forums. 7 ) You bring a player into a sit and punish him however he does not agree with your decision and keeps arguing: Make sure that they are aware that staff have the final say within situations such as this and that if they disagree with the result or view my staffing poor they can file a staff-abuse thread upon on the forums, if they request to do so I would link them the relevant information while still keeping a calm and collected manner. If they continue to disregard staff's say upon matters and in turn cause a large disturbance within RP or for the other players I would ban them. 8 ) Someone commits FailRP but claims the specific instance of FailRP you warned him for is not explained in detail within the rules: Depending on the actual action and it's severity, I would first take them away from the RP so that they can not disturb it further and then apply their situation to the rules, then to real-life, as our rules can only be so long and can not encompass every single RP event possible, explain that the specific actions of the accused wouldn't be accepted or possible in a sense of the character, the rules, or real life. If they once more do not accept my choice for the warn they can file a staff-abuse thread upon on the forums following my method before mentioned in question seven. 9 ) A player evidently breaks a rule however he makes a good point in his defense by abusing loopholes within the rules: Inform them to not look for loopholes in rules, and that if they do find one they should first inform staff instead of abusing them furthermore I would verbally warn them for abuse of the rules and depending on the severity, give the preset punishment, though if said loophole had caused little issue I would be somewhat lenient with the punishment due to the lack of a rule surrounding their action, finally I would raise this within a staff meeting and attempt to form some sort of fix for this loophole before the meeting occurred. Answer the following questions in detail: 1 ) Explain the difference between Tier I rule-breaking and punishments and Tier II rule-breaking and punishments: Their difference to my understanding is that Tier I encompasses Low-level rule breaks and mostly accidental stuff, such as Accidental RDM (Tabbing in game causing you to shoot), Acciental spam (Bindings not working or internet issues causing large spam), etc punishments would consist of verbal and server warns. Tier II rule-breaking is a person understanding and knowing what they are is against rules and still breaking them, these consist of things such as RDM or jailing someone without reason. Punishments would consist of kicks and bans. 2 ) Explain the difference between IC and OOC. Also define Meta Gaming in relation with the two: IC: In Character: IC encompasses everything that happens to and in relation to your character that your character is aware about. Every event they have been involved with or that was told about IC. OOC: Out Of Character: OOC means everything that your character IC wouldn't be aware of, such as stuff said by staff or other players within in sits, Discord chats or VC's, Teamspeak (Though IRP Comms channels may exist, I am not 100% sure if they do or will currently.) or OOC chat in game, etc. Meta Gaming is where you take information from an OOC source, such as In-game OOC chat, and use that information in-game or use it as if you knew it IC, an example would be if you were a CP, and saw that Resistance forces were planning an attack over comms and you used that information to set an ambush. 3 ) Explain the difference between Serious RP and Semi-Serious RP: Serious RP has a key focus on roleplay such as actions, what you say, and what decisions you make, helping the Resistance to stop an incoming raid or informing CP that they are walking into an ambush for example here rule-breaking is taken very seriously, however staff interaction should be minimal and preferably out of sight using the bring command to pull people away from the RP for rule breaking while still keeping it flowing. Semi-Serious is where roleplay is less quite that, less serious, characters still take their situations they are put in seriously but can be somewhat lax if that means they have a better time compared to their Serious RP brothers. Either way as long as it isn't becoming to a hindrance to other players RP both types of RP and players are accepted. 4 ) Define PassiveRP and explain its role and importance in a serious RP gamemode, also explain your view on the two within our gamemode: PassiveRP from my understanding will be the bread and butter of the server, the RP of living through daily life with tyrannical alien overlords; PassiveRP consists of just that, the normal day by day living, creating gear and upgrades, farming and cooking and simply chatting all come under PassiveRP, it's quite important to such a server due to it's power to give the world life, the real world isn't just constant fighting as it is through the eyes of DarkRP but instead gaps of what we would called PassiveRP broken up by key events. In my option within a serious RP server/gamemode it should mirror that, PassiveRP makes up more time then CombatRP or major events. Furthermore it helps to keep the server fresh, small events within passive RP allowing major events within larger RP. SeriousRP is one of the major selling points to servers, many look for a high quality experience within the server, without that a serious RP gamemode isn't anything. 5 ) Define the term of Combat Baiting: Combat bating is self explanatory, it is when a player or group of players purposefully partake in actions in an attempt to start a conflict also known as CombatRP, this is normally caused by acting in an uncharacteristic manner (Which normally causes it to be tied with FailRP) This is a punishable offence upon the majority of servers and in turn is quite well known, mattering on how it was done and to what scale varied punishments might be used. 6 ) Define Power Gaming / Power RP: Powergaming or PowerRP is the act of doing things that you physically or mentally shouldn't be able to do, such as pulling out a weapon that you don't actually own, being overly athletic to a near superhuman standing, or or completing actions within a drastically understated time frame. In essence it is the exaggeration of your character and/or their actions/abilities. Sometimes this might be pushed somewhat due to a characters ability it might be something along the lines of augmentation meaning they don't need to sleep meaning they could work 24/7 where as if a human said that, that would be impossible due to the need for sleep. 7 ) Define the term FailRP: FailRP is failing to roleplay in a appropriate manner, it encompasses a lot within most rules within servers but focuses primarily on unrealistic actions that are not appropriate for the situation and that if put into a real world setting would most likely not work or not work to the extent that they do within game. 8 ) Define the term FearRP: FearRP is defined as taking actions whilst under the influence of fear that you wouldn't be able to do. The most common example of FearRP is being at gunpoint or being outnumbered regardless of your character's backstory, you would still be fearing for your life, you wouldn't pull out a weapon as you would know you would be gunned down and you wouldn't do something that would result in you risking your life. Each person possess self conservation, one of the most basic and primal instincts within each creature to stay alive. This can be veto'ed similarly to powergaming if your character has the ability to overcome fear and in turn FearRP, things of this manner would be stated within server rules so that people are aware of this. Explain in length and detail as to why you deserve staff more than other applicants. Explain what you will bring to the staff team and your strongest assets as a person/potential staff member (250+ words): I believe there are several reasons why I believe I am a good pick for staff within HLRP, Below lay a series of examples which I can apply to a staff role and I suggest as proof behind why I think I should be staff: I'm an approachable person something I view key within staff alongside this I am a highly hardworking and dedicated individual, I can complete a task when given instructions and I have vast experience communicating with the public something pivotal in a working environment such as staff. I have a massive will to learn, something I've already planned within the server building my knowledge surrounding lore of HL and within HLRP servers. I also attempt to increase my range of skills whenever I can. As a Games Tech student I see myself as a great adaptive person, when I reach a roadblock I follow a simple process: I understand that I am at a block, I attempt to look for an alternative solution that isn't simply brute force and if that doesn't work I don't fear looking for assistance from outside sources due to this adaptability I find myself able to work around changing constraints very well. During year 10 through 11 within my secondary school, I applied in the school’s prefect system alongside many other classmates, these people were brought down to 50 from their written applications and from there down to 20 in a one-on-one interview with the headmaster. During this time spent as a prefect I had to take time out of my own day to make sure that school system's were working optimally and that if improvements could be made I would formulate them and present them to the hierarchy of the school's administration. Furthermore during this the school hosted various events where the public and/or student's parents were involved; during these events the prefect's acted as guides around the school to groups of visitors alongside helping within classrooms to demonstrate. Even after my time within secondary school finished I still chose to help where I could, helping out by manning the stores they hold during school productions alongside photography work for the school as a whole. After my grandfather passed a few years ago I thought I would take to charity work assisting "Help for Heroes" an organisation that looks to provide better facilities for British servicemen and women who have been wounded or injured in the line of duty, something that the government does a poor job of. Within this work I took to the city centre as their signature bear helping to raise awareness and raise money for the cause. After a while away from games as a whole to focus on studies to allow myself to become a Games Tech student I saw no better time to rejoin Werwolf Gaming, having been staff on SWRP, DarkRP and on VRP I had also assisted within the development for Vietnam RP alongside the creation of spreadsheets and word documents. Acting as ATC Chief I had to create a full training and tryout handbook this taught: About the helicopters used within the regiment, weaponry, rankings within the regiment and the regiment call-signs. What it meant to be a pilot in the 1st Transportation. The controls of each of the vehicles. Finally, I thank the you for taking their time to read through my application for staff. Cheers, Callum.
