  2. +1 - very detailed app - nice guy - good RPer
  3. My bad, a browser plugin made the text seem white. I've changed it now. That's where it was stored in the lore, but it honestly doesn't matter. Sorry, should've clarified this before: people only infect others if they die from the crystal's effects (after the five minutes). If they're shot or isolated before this happens (should be pretty obvious with the much slower movement speed and crackling sounds), they don't infect anyone else. This way (theoretically), SCP-500 never needs to be used outside of cross-testing or if a high CL person somehow manages to get infected. If it does turn out that the infection mechanic is too unbalanced, it can just be removed.
  4. With v7 coming soon, one of the big points that people brought up in the census was the lack of passive SCPs for testing. I have a few ideas for SCPs that will be balanced, interesting to test on, and shouldn't be too hard to code. They won’t have a great deal of functionality, but will give researchers more options. I’ll give an abridged version of the article, then move on to the technical details of how each would be implemented. SCP-458: “The Never Ending Pizza Box” Description: SCP-458 is a large-sized pizza box from the pizza chain Little Caesar's, of their Hot-n-Ready variety. While appearing to be an ordinary pizza box, when it comes into contact with human hands, it instantaneously replicates within it the holder's subconsciously preferred choice of pizza, down to the favorite sauce, cheese, crust, and topping. It is not limited to the Little Caesars brand, as pizza from all major pizza chains, as well as local and even handmade pizzas have been produced. There seems to be no limit to its ability, except that it cannot make anything but pizza, and its toppings must be edible by normal human standards. The box is also rather indestructible, as all tests to destroy or dismantle the box have proven fruitless. Implementation: When interacting with the box, a random pizza description can be shown, along with giving the user 5AHP (only if not at full armour. It would use the “models/foodnhouseholditems/pizzabox.mdl” model, and can either be kept in the EZ cafeteria, or in a standard containment cell. After interaction, the box cannot be used again by the same person for ten minutes. Notes: Meant to be a basic, low-effort-required addition that will give researchers something else to test on. The small AHP boost is used so that the interaction with it isn’t entirely text based. SCP-348: “A Gift from Dad” Description: SCP-348 is a white ceramic bowl patterned with light blue flowers, with the Chinese characters for “thinking of you” (想着你) etched into the side. When in the presence of an individual afflicted with a minor ailment or injury SCP-348 will fill with soup. The ingredients vary and young test subjects who consume it have stated that they enjoyed the meal, and will finish the bowl if allowed. Children who eat from SCP-348 several times often express a feeling of contentment, stating that though they are eating by themselves, they do not feel lonely. Occasionally, after soup produced by SCP-348 has been consumed, a message will materialise on the inside of the bowl. In the event that someone older than 18 years of age attempts to consume soup created by SCP-348, the individual will be less inclined to finish the meal, stating that “something is missing," or that it “was nothing out of the ordinary.” Any messages that appear will look worn and faded. Implementation: Instead of age, the interactions with the SCP will change depending on what job you are filling. When interacted with, a random, job-specific description (from the table below) would be displayed, sometimes along with a minor effect. It can be kept in a standard containment cell, though instead of a pedestal, the bowl is placed on a table, with two chairs on either side of it. After interaction, the bowl cannot be used again by the same person for ten minutes. Notes: I think this would be an interesting object to test on, as researchers could have the option to interact with personnel other than Class-Ds. The effects aren’t integral to the SCP, so if they are too difficult to code, they can be ignored. Below I’ve added a few ideas for certain results. SCP-409: “Contagious Crystal” Description: SCP-409 resembles a large quartz crystal approximately 1.5m tall and 0.6m wide. Any objects coming in contact with SCP-409 will begin to crystallise after three hours. This effect will occur in any material other than granite. Subjects report this effect to be extremely painful, and similar to frostbite. After complete crystallisation, the object will begin to make snapping and creaking noises for approximately twenty minutes, before bursting into thousands of fragments with great force. Anything touched by or touching a fragment will immediately begin to crystallise. Nothing at this time is able to reverse the effect in organic matter, including amputation of affected areas. Inorganic matter will only crystallise for a few centimeters around the point of contact. Implementation: If interacted with, a tool tip stating “You wince in pain as crystals slowly begin to spread from your fingers up your arm.” will be shown. Their movement speed would then be reduced, and they would slowly be damaged. After five minutes under this effect, the person die with a crackling sound, and anyone in a small radius would then be infected. Crystallisation can be cured by SCP-500 (EDIT:) and people who are infected can be safely dealt with if they die before the five minutes. The crystal would have no effect on SCPs: “The crystal feels cold to the touch, but you don’t feel anything out-of-the-ordinary”. If the same person tries to interact with the crystal again whilst infected: “You don’t want to make the infection worse!” It could either use a re-textured rock model, or use the model from here, and would be kept behind a secure CL3 keycard door. Notes: If the infection on death mechanic is too time-consuming to code, or if it is found to be unbalanced in playtesting, it could just be scrapped as the SCP itself is still interesting to research on.
  5. +1 A couple more suggestions for minor "special" fixes (if needed): SCP-012: The door control button will malfunction, causing the door to be stuck open until fixed. SCP-049 and SCP-457: The door control button will malfunction, causing the door to stay in whatever state it was (obviously would be overridden in the event of a breach)
  6. I like the concept and the SCP itself is interesting, but I don't think the idea will stand up well to playtesting. I mean, the Observer's entire purpose is to constantly stand watching a statue, so I don't know why anyone would choose that over D-Class. Creating an entire armed division with the sole purpose of guarding a single chamber and killing any low-level person who sees the SCP just isn't feasible. Also, if there are no competent Observers or Protection Personnel online, a chain-reaction (like the one mentioned in the article) could start, which I don't think would be brilliant to play against.
  7. +1 Might have a go at making one of these. Some more passive SCPs would be great.
