This addon makes vr possible on the server so if we do get this in the workshop people will be able to play in vr if they would like

I havenn't experience with VR myself, however, I do believe you need a smooth framerate for a decent experience and with how the server shits itself sometimes in events, I can imagine it would be horrid. The addon for the server is impractical.

What are the chances people would use this? Also just bad performance as mentioned in the other reply. Just unneeded especially when better things can be added for the majority of the playerbase.

im not really expecting for the whole server to start using vr however i do believe this could make it more interesting to walk around the worlds with actual people who you can speak to and if it would affect anyone it would be the person using vr. and its only 1mb so its not that big of a file size.

If you have ever used this you would relisese you need to download a seperat addon to put in to your files, for it to work, and with my expirence with this addon if your not using VR your very likely to crash often

really?

that sucks i think the files just to use vr for yourself however (i have used it btw) and the addon makes it so it works for flatscreen players. i doubt it will be added from what has been told maybe when its more optimised

No, only the server needs the workshop addon.

it also doesnt need each individual player to download the files into the game it just needs the addon on the server list

im not thinking of it to be some big thing on the server i just believe as it is only 1mb a small file size it might be something that some playes could enjoy when the servers a bit quieter in the morning or night. im not sure if it would lag other players or just the ones using vr but if its just the people in vr who lag in my opinion thats fine

idk ppl already said its horrible on MP Gmod servers and it would probably make the server lag even worse than it is now.
Edit: Even the VR Dev said to not use it on PVP servers or if cheating and stability is a concern so theres that.

I dont know if it only lags the player using it or the other players in the server so im trying to figure it out i may ask the addon creator or test it out. because i know the mod is an addon on other servers.

I have personally used this mod for a laugh on single player and I would advise never using it. At the time of me playing it the mod only supported base gmod weapons. If you pulled out a lightsaber you had a crowbar as a hilt, a blaster rifle was an AWP/Sniper model that was horrible and vehicles you had to control via your keyboard any mouse. Please never try this mod out it is horrible especially for gmod. If you wanna play around with lightsabers in VR might i suggest the Vader trilogy on the Oculus store page

when i tried it out today most weapons seemed to work such as the basic ones. but you are right only the vehicles that run of the original half life script work. however it is still playable and a small download so if it doesnt affect other players experiences i feel like it could be a nice addition to the server for some

also it can be turned on and off with a few buttons so if you do have to do something it is a quick switch back to flatscreen

The only improvement to the server I see this making is more immersion but its a gmod server thats not that easy to do. The server would have to download not only the workshop link but also another file to install it properly both on the server and on the users computer i think so even then that can cause issues overall should not be added

oh the server doesnt need to download the files only the vr users do for people to see people in vr and for it to work you only need the addon but yeah there could be some issues that it could cause which i am trying to find answers for.

ok i asked the mod creator and they said it can lag the server so i dont think it should be added anymore lmao
