Unwarn for VDM (if this is the wrong place blame breatoking)

Recommended Posts

My In-Game name: Battalion Colonel Fluffy

STEAMID: STEAM_0:0:80404683

Steam Name: Fluffy

What is the reason for your Warn: VDM

Name of the staff member who warned you: Breatoking

Why do I believe that I should be unbanned:

Checking the rules VDM is not a rule. Generally it falls under some kind of failrp or fearrp, however playing a militiamen willing to die to take out a entire transport of enemies using a stolen ship is a completely fair thing to do. If fearRP apllies to any situation where dieing is assured we could never do any type of push, attacking a republic base is basically guaranteed death. A exchance of a full ship vs 1 person is a valiant and praised death. It would also not fall under failrp for not being able to fly to the ship as I was granted I could fly it (also it is not "common sense", a single militiaman dieing to destroy a entire enemy transport to protect his home is a completely fair action to take). It is also obviously not RDM as I was a EC that was there protecting there home.

In short although I did kill a bunch of people with a vehicle, the action alone is not against the rules and within the context of the event it made complete sense for my character fighting for his home to be willing to sacrifice 1 life for a entire enemy transport burning his home.

Add the rule (which in my opinion would be a bad rule) but as of right now its not in the rules as of  the warn.

Evidence: Here is me hitting them for context, its kinda pointless as I already said I hit them but there you go.

In the end its only a warn and it doesn't matter very much, but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take and it only takes a map switch to write, If you decide it is common sense then I'll disagree but its not like I'll lose sleep over it.

The video clearly shows you attacking another ship by ramming into it. The dropship has guns and ontop of that the EP most likely expected you to shoot at other ships. If we use your logic then other ECs should do that, fuck it why not have clones do it and everyone ram into everyone.  See it doesnt work, and along with that, there isnt a clear rule stating that, but its just basic common sense not to ram into a LAAT

I mean Aleks and other staff agree with my choice so...

Because

1. Republic vehicle cost, it would be to expensive as a repeat strategy. Unlike here were it was free, a ship stolen from the enemie in the heat of battle with no possibility of keeping it for the future.

2. Clones are loyal, but not desperately defending there home and driving like a cornered rat loyal.

3. If a clone is backed into a corner I see no issue with it as a last result.

3.1. I also don't see a issue with tanks driving over enemies, the reasons above are for ships.

So yeah in allot of general situations it would be failRP, but in this particular situation it was not.

At the end of the day, you're a militia member, not a terrorist which is willing to kill himself for the cause.

The LAAT wasn't actually doing anything to harm you (therefore having no relevant RP gain in a FearRP sense). If it were lasering you and it was about to destroy your vehicle (then killing you) and you rammed it, I could kind of understand, but Sandy was more expecting you to use the turret rather than use it as a ramming device.

In fairness, there is no VDM rule, but I believe that VDM is a well enough understood concept which mostly everyone is accustomed with.

-1 You legit went full Taliban on the LAAT for no reason which is common sense since your what battalion colonel? I think. I would expect you to have some pretty good common sense for that rank which may have been proven differently. but as shepherd said you had no reason to do so. Before doing such a retarded move you should ask the EP as EC but you didnt you decided to take it upon yourself commiting FailRP by stealing a LAAT and killing a LAAT of clones.

You went full 9/11 mode on the ship. And with the rules you also have to use commen sence and ramming into a ship on purpose isnt really RP friendly. Any one with commen sence would know that.

Everyone keeps saying its common sense but in my opinion it was a very fair action to prevent a transport full of soldiers to arrive to shoot your home.

Also I DID ask before taking it.

They were transport troops to slaughter my friends and family, that is most definitly doing something to cause harm. Terrorist are not the only people willing to die for a cause, especially if the cause is defending your home and loved once.

I understand VDM as a extention of a RDM, FailRP or FearRP charge, all of which I pointed out in my post as to why they dont apply

I clipped it for a reason, you full suicided archers LAAT, you were a militia not osama. The EP himself told me that he told you not to VDM.

"JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING ISN’T WRITTEN IN THE RULES DOESN'T MEAN IT'S NOT DETRIMENTAL TO THE RP"  this is from the rules itself.

You're a Batt COL, you should know not to ram people with ships.

I really don't see how it is common sense in this situation, people like to say it  but I've yet to see one person actually address any of the points I made pointing out why its was a fair thing for me to do at the time. Explain to my why it is not RP friendly exactly? Has no-one in star wars ever crashed there ship into another ship to take it down? Has no-one ever been willing to die to save there friends and family that a government was coming to kill? (which they did, they bombed the entire town soon after this with the knowledge that the women were hiding inside and would die).

1:
As you are a EC, you are unable to steal a Republic Ship. It doesn't make any sense at all for you to know how to fly it. This could lie under a warn for FailRP.
2:
Just because you have a ship, you doesn't mean you ram into another transport ship and kill lots of clones, kind of common sense. Imagine you are on the other side of the situation and a random ship kills you. This could go under Mass VDM.

Finally, just because it isn't stated in the rules, it doesn't mean you can get away with stupidity.
