It hasn't been that long since Church was last removed and I don't really see why it would be better now. We already have CI, MCND, UIU, Sarkics and ??? I don't really see why we would need another job on the surface considering often these jobs are stretched dry anyway. Towards the end of COTBG last rendition it was nothing but a raid job and with addition of Sarkics it would just mean more shooting between the groups and even less RP.

While yes it wasn't just mindless ERP like some do it was still ERP and likely around children.

 

ERP doesn't need or should have a place on this server.

 

Edit: I'd also say with the younger player base it could easily have room younger people to be taken advantage of. (For example Dani Rick was just any old kid messing around on the server. But he was thrust into situations and groups of people saying things a 10 year old shouldn't hear. Lots of members took advantage of Dani just for a laugh and I think this although unlikely could happen with other vulnerable children.)

What the Church of the Broken God is

The Church of the Broken God is a church which attempts to rebuild its god, Mekhane, the 'Broken God' in the name. It has 3 different sects: one of which, The Broken Church, is the original sect and does not have any specific views unlike the other 2. It focuses on rebuilding Mekhane, using technology and leaving flesh behind to achieve it's goals. The Cogwork Orthodoxy is the first new sect. Created during the industrial revolution, it worships steam engines, industrial machines and other 'steampunk' styled machinery. They also augment themselves in a similar fashion with anomalous machines. These augments make a ticking noise, hence the name 'tickers' given to them from the 2 other sects. The newest sect, The Church of Maxwellism, founded by Saint Hedwig during the 1990s focuses on modern anomalous enhancements, computers and networks. They perform alterations much like the cogworks, but instead of ticking they generally hum, giving them the nickname 'hummers'. The attempt to rebuild their version of Mekhane and restore 'The Great Computation', as they believe Mekhane exists upon a Network.

They do not go without many enemies, however. Their main rivals: the Sarkic Cults were forced into hiding after the War of the Flesh, however still run to this day and remain a constant threat to the Church. Despite the rampant disagreement between the 3 sects, it is agreeable that the Sarkic Cults are their main enemy and it is necessary for their god, Yaldabaoth, to remain trapped and to not be freed. Numerous other enemies such as the Foundation and Global Occult Coalition have had many skirmishes with them in the past but do often agree with the Church in their fight against Sarkicism: and mainly to counter the threat of an SCP-610 outbreak due to the 3 having a common agreement against SCP-610 and the threat it may cause to the world.

History and Formation

In the beginning, there were 2 gods: Mekhane and Yaldabaoth. Mekhane represented civilisation, intelligence and progress. Yaldabaoth represented animal instinct and the flesh. Followers of the 2 gods were the early Church as it was still a cult, and the followers of Yaldabaoth who were also a cult. Both of the gods worked to bring humanity to a much more advanced state, and did well. However, one day Yaldabaoth grew jealous of how civilised humanity was becoming and how they were forgetting their animal ways. So, Yaldabaoth sought revenge upon Mekhane and declared war. 

The War of the Flesh is one of the main stories for the formation of the Church. It was an incredibly long war between the Mekhanites and Sarkics, and caused approximately 30 million deaths, about the amount a global nuclear war today would cause. It happened at the end of the Bronze Age, and mainly was fought at a stalemate until Mekhane made a choice to affect the rest of the world's existence, and his. He chose to break himself into many pieces in order to form a cage and trap Yaldabaoth. This brought a halt to the war, and a technical win for the Mekhanites. The Sarkics were forced into hiding and became a much weakened cult (as it is still today). The world carried on, albeit shaken from the conflict and death toll.

Around 2100 to 1600 BCE, the earliest known record of the post-war Church, or as it was, a cult, existed as the Xia Dynasty Anomalous Group. Both the Sarkics and Mekhanites existed together and both worshipped both gods, however the 2 groups of people and gods were not known by those names at first. No non-anomalous record of this group existed, as all evidence of it is anomalous, and it is thought to be one of the oldest anomalous groups in history.

Throughout 1200 BCE to 1000 BCE, a Mekhanite cult existed and the Broken God was renamed to Mekhane which literally means 'machine' in Ancient Greek. The Mekhanite cult grew large enough to become an empire in ancient Greece, and was highly respected among other empires with its strong economic policies and metallurgy which they saw as a holy practice. This empire brought some key concepts to Church Theology such as that rebuilding Mekhane be its main priority.

The industrial revolution brought great change to the Church of the Broken god. Namely, a new sect had broken off following a schism within the church due and several new small sects being created as a response to the new technology being created. In the 19th century, all these broken off sects unified into 1 larger and recognisable one. This new sect, the Cogwork Orthodoxy, believed in augmentation and retaining with industrial era tech. It would stay until the modern day, it's holy writ was much longer and saw use of SCP-217, otherwise known as God's Ichor, in order to transform their flesh into a 'organic metal' and augment themselves completely.

The 20th century would be the most stable state for the church and brought little amount of turbulence for the Broken Church, and under new leadership by Robert Bumaro the church did exceedingly well and close to reassembling the Broken God. It was only in the 1990s with the addition of new technologies did the 2nd schism happen, many new sects created and once again be unified under one leadership, this one known as the Church of Maxwellism. This new sect believed in modern technologies, augmentation to become closer to god (however modern augments such as organ enhancements and chips unlike the Cogworks) and ascend by becoming in a state in which you exist upon a network. 

In the present day, the Church of the Broken god as a whole has around 300,000 members worldwide and is still continuing to try and rebuild Mekhane, combat Sarkics and other organisations or people they see as heretics (such as the SCP Foundation).

Job name: Broken Church Saint

Character name: Saint Ferris

Purpose: My character would work on the surface and mainly in the church, setting up COTBG operations within the city and recruiting members using /setjob Broken Church Convert (despite the fact this does not show on the leader board it still uses ID, when it gets fixed it will be better). Would be actively seeking out enemies; namely the Sarkic Cults and Foundation members operating on the surface and sometimes UIU then attempting to kidnap/kill them and keep spreading the religion. Attempting to fix relations/work with CI members in the city to seek out common enemies. We would not raid Foundation unless we have a good reason to (due to the fact we do not have numbers and this is not a purely combat/raiding focused job), however we will assist CI if they have a large number of people and an advantage due to Foundation being our enemies. MCND are neutral to us: we will buy equipment from them but not regularly engage in RP with them.

Equipment: AK-74, cuffs, lockpick, Broken Church SWEP (New SWEP. M1: Gives the person you are looking at an SMG between: MP5, Mac-11, MP9, CZ Skorpion EVO, VSS Vintorez. Max 3 converts. M2: Spawn an armour anomaly, max 1. I don't think it should be too hard to code seeing as it just gives a gun/spawns an entity, but if there is any problems I can change abilit: to something which already exists)

Why it will help RP: So, with the addition of Sarkics I would of suggested to add COTBG too but adding 3 GOIs would be too much and surface would be complete TDM. Instead I am just suggesting to have myself as a ??? who can recruit people in COTBG. This will assist RP by allowing people to join COTBG in a fight against Sarkics and also bring some passive RP such as religious speeches given out to the population to recruit more people into the Church and to spread the word of Mekhane. It also balances out some combat RP with Foundation on surface/Sarkics. Combined with this, we can help CI in the city to help them achieve their goals and negotiate relations/terms with the delta at the time. Overall: Job focuses on spreading it's religion and dominance over the city, and eliminating enemies where it sees fit.

This is the end of the app, I probably missed something or messed some lore up somewhere along the line, however I do expect this job to work well and recruit some former COTBG members as well as new people, and introduce them to Mekhanism-Sarkicism. No copy and paste whatsoever, took me a while to write.

 

Most of this just seems like a summed up story of the church and nothing about your actual character and who they are.

The character just seems like a way go kill sarkics xD instead of doing anything actually creative.

 

I remember kicking you from ??? back in October, November time (Can't remember precisely) as you character was UIU and all you did just run around with PD and arrest and shoot people. None of what you did was the RP that you would usually expect from a ??? character.  That was a while ago but I don't really see you having changed but I don't play the server much anymore so I guess other people would be better at knowing.

How you manage to do all this and stay connected to reality is something I will never be able to figure out.
