Give some context about setting of C24 within the Half Life universe (150 words+) Geneva, 15 years after the 7 hour war. Humanity has been turned into a subject race, ruled over by the Combine Empires puppet state, The Universal Union. 75% of the world population was either transhumanized or exterminated, leaving only a few billion people. The rest of humanity residing in the old world cities, now named with numbers, with only a select few of them housing the combines greatest structures on the planet, the Citadels. The old Swiss City of Geneva, now known as City 24 is bustling with activity, Civil Protection officers patrolling the streets and enforcing the strict Union law, while hunting for anti-citizens and rebels. The Civil Workers Union endlessly working for the union, producing the synthetic goods for the Union, while the working class citizen keep slaving away in the factories, constantly under the threat of starvation. The Overwatch Transhuman Arm, the Union's main military force on earth, constantly protecting the Citadels themselves, along with protecting the City Administrative personnel, and at times deploying to the outlands in search of anti-citizens and rebels. The city's loyalists themselves are better off, in their more comfortable loyalty housing, especially the terminal hotel, reserved for the highest tier loyalists. They spend most of their time either working their businesses, or at the very heated debates at the city's senate. Even if the senate is just the rubber stamp of the city's administration, they don't seem to care. Then there are the outcasts, the anti-citizens and amongst them, the rebels. Lead by the infamous Lambda cell as the most prominent of the rebel cells, they wreak havock on the disease ridden city outskirts and abandoned outlands, fighting constantly over its control with the Overwatch Transhuman Arm. Very little has changed, when you arrive to City 24 via the Trainstation, but what happens now, is up to you. Have you read the server rules and are you familiar with them?: Yes, I have, and I always from time to time check up on them again, if there were any changes. Have you read the punishment list and are familiar with it?: Yes. List of all previous server staff experience: Lemonpunch HL2RP Administrator. List of all previous RP experience: On GMod, Lemonpunch HL2RP, Nebulous HL2RP. There are also many other games that I have been on RP servers, such as the Just Cause 2 MP Life server and Mount&Blade Warband Persistent World PW_Oasis, where I was an admin as well. Have you added the Manager on Steam? If not, add him (http://steamcommunity.com/id/RUN_YOU_FOOL): Yes. Have you added the Vice-Manager on Steam? If not, add him (https://steamcommunity.com/id/thatgardentool/): Yes. Have you added the Staff Manager on Steam? If not, add him (https://steamcommunity.com/id/UNJoe/): Yes. Do you understand that you can be demoted at anytime with a sufficient reason by a Hierarchy member?: Absolutely. Explain how you would handle these scenarios as a staff member: 1 ) You are told by a player in admin chat that another player is randomly killing people: I would first check if he actually is killing people. If he is, then I would teleport take him to a roof/admin-sit area. Then I would ask him for an explanation for his action. After that I would administer him the punishment with regards to his previous warn/ban history, the level of RDM and they way how he behaves in the admin-sit. 2 ) You are asked by a player about how to join a faction: I would tell him to go look at the forums, and look at the factions section, or via the in-game and perhaps ask one of the members of the faction for how to join the faction, as this could make it more interesting, as it creates more role-play. But with this being HL-RP the factions usually lie behind a discord or application form, and I would look up the said form and give it to the player. 3 ) You catch somebody not performing RP and messing around: As this is HL-RP, I would first wait for the CP's to handle him, but if he decides not to role-play with them and/or I get an Ahelp about him, I would first tell him to stop and role-play. If he wont listen, I would warn him for FailRP with the tier depending on what his warn/ban history says. 4 ) Somebody acquires a rank but is not willing to RP with it properly: First I would just either leave it to the senior ranks to deal with or if none are present, I would teleport him to an admin-sit and tell him to behave and role-play as his rank/role requires. If he refuses to comply, I will warn/ban him, with regards to his previous warn/ban history. As for his rank, I would leave dealing with his role to his superiors, as I am not his IC superior. 5 ) A player is prop spamming: I would first teleport to him, and just tell him to stop it. If he doesn't listen to me, I would teleport him to an admin-sit, and tell him that he is getting warned for Prop Spamming/Minging. Then, I would administer the warn/ban, based on his previous warn/ban history and how he behaves in the admin-sit. 6 ) Somebody does not agree with the outcome of an RP situation therefore he decides to break RP and act OOC: I will teleport to him and tell him that going OOC will not help him at all, and that it will just make his argument much worse. If he keeps braking character, I will warn/ban him for FailRP, with the Tier depending on his behavior and his previous warn/ban history. 7 ) You bring a player into a sit and punish him however he does not agree with your decision and keeps arguing: I would tell him that he is allowed to make a warn/ban appeal at the forum, should he feel that it is not right or submit a staff report if he feels that I broke the staff code of conduct. 8 ) Someone commits FailRP but claims the specific instance of FailRP you warned him for is not explained in detail within the rules: In this case, if I had trouble with it, I would ask help from a fellow/senior Mod/Admin, and after investigation, if I feel that his complaint is genuine and the rule is not enough specific, I would repeal his warn. Or I could just tell him to make a Warn appeal on the forums. 9 ) A player evidently breaks a rule however he makes a good point in his defense by abusing loopholes within the rules: Abusing the loopholes in the rules is a bit of a double etched sword. I would still warn him not to do it again, and then inform the SMT for the loopholes. If he keeps abusing the loopholes, I would ban him for not heeding my warning. He may appeal it if he wishes. Answer the following questions in detail: 1 ) Explain the difference between Tier I rule-breaking and punishments and Tier II rule-breaking and punishments: Tier I rule-breaking usually means that its usually the first time that the player breaks the rule or that the rule-breaking is not the major, and the punishment for tier I rule-breaks is usually a warning. Tier II on the other hand means that the player has been warned for the rule-break before and knows/should have known that he is breaking the rule. The punishment will usually be a ban, with the time of the ban depending of the rule in question, how many times it was broken, what his behavior was like in the admin-sit and if there were any other rules that were also broken. 2 ) Explain the difference between IC and OOC. Also define Meta Gaming in relation with the two: IC means In Character, when you are role-playing as your character. OOC in the meanwhile is when you are talking out of character, for example when in Admin-sit. Metagaming is when you start taking Out of Character information In-Character, therefor not just breaking the server rules, not to mention the fun of the game. 3 ) Explain the difference between Serious RP and Semi-Serious RP: SeriousRP or HeavyRP means that you are constantly required to be In-Character, whether it be by talking in voice or text chat. Also you are expected to act like a real human, when walking down a street, not bunny hopping, running in the middle of the road or jumping on the fences/walls/doors. Semi-SeriousRP means that you can be a little more lax when communicating, walking, running, jumping and generally behaving, but still keeping it to a certain limit. 4 ) Define PassiveRP and explain its role and importance in a serious RP gamemode, also explain your view on the two within our gamemode: PassiveRP is basically just doing everyday things by just role-playing them by either doing them or writing them up in /me's, for example: /me starts cooking a lunch for the group of friends, by frying onions and frying stakes. In regards to HL-RP, the PassiveRP is a major part of the gamemode, as alot of the role-play is PassiveRP. For example, most of the Work-shifts (At least in my experience) require you to do a lot of /me's to produce goods for the use/consumption of the city's population, mainly food products. (I sort of explained the last two questions in one.) 5 ) Define the term of Combat Baiting: Trying to bait someone into a fight with you, whether using weapons or not, by either shouting, or if there is a AoS/KoS Line, constantly running at it and stopping short of it or by just having the weapons out for no reason. 6 ) Define Power Gaming / Power RP: (In HL-RP setting)Basically acting like you are Gordon Freeman, acting like you can overpower anyone, and that you are stronger than lets say the OTA's. 7 ) Define the term FailRP: (In HL-RP setting)Basically when someone decides to have a character with a silly non-RP name or just run around the server, yelling random stuff and bunny hopping. 8 ) Define the term FearRP: (In HL-RP Setting) You, as a basic Citizen, you are very weak, constantly at the danger of starving to death, and constantly being watched over by either the Civil Protection or by your fellow Citizens. You are in constant fear of breaking some minor rule, and getting re-educated for it, or jailed or worse. Whenever you get a gun pointed at you, you are not a ninja hero, who will just suddenly kick the gun out of the officers hand. Instead you will be putting your hands on your head and facing the wall. If you start breaking out of this, you are basically breaking the fearRP, as you got nothing to fight the officer with. This is just an example for when you start out as a normal citizen. Please remember this: YOU ARE NOT THE GODDAMN GORDON FREEMAN!!! Explain in length and detail as to why you deserve staff more than other applicants. Explain what you will bring to the staff team and your strongest assets as a person/potential staff member (250+ words): I think I deserve the staff position more than others, because I have been working in online gaming customer support industry for over 5 years now, volunteering for a major game publisher as a Game Administrator and Customer Support Representative and also volunteering in numerous private communities on many different games. I have been working with admin/mod stuff for most of my online life, and have had great experiences, but also learned a lot of things about it. My main concentration in life is customer service/support line of work. Currently my main IRL job is being a taxi driver for the Helsinki metropolitan area. I have been working as a taxi driver for the past two and a half years. As a person, I am very approachable, co-operative and willing to help with anything. As for what I can offer for the staff team, as an example: When I was a Administrator on Lemonpunch HL2RP, I used to do a lot of admin events, for example building collapse and repair event where part of the buildings elevator shaft broke down and collapsed into the bottom of the elevator shaft, and then had the citizens to get the remains of the elevator shaft along with all of the other rubble to be transported out of there, and then getting the Civil Workers Union to repair the elevator shaft, and later to test the elevator. Otherwise I have also been working with the rest of the admin team devising new things and role-play events for the players to enjoy. For the team I would bring a lot of extensive knowledge in server administration/moderation and event planning/running.
